Love My Career......
Megan is a 'super-hero' in my eyes she is just like wonder woman. This
22 year old gal is blessed with a pretty face, her fabulous curves of
course and last but certainly a very rewarding career. She enters the
freighting world of 'Rape and Domestic Violence' every day by helping
others suffering from this. Somebody has to make a stand and give these
people the aid they need. The most important factor is listening and
offering hope, change and friendship.
Q. Tell me why you chose this career?
A. It started out as just another summer job, but by the time I was
trained and started answering the calls I was hooked. It's also a great
life experience and career experience.
Q. How long have you been working at your job?
A. I've had my job since July 2007.
Q. What is the best part of your job?
A. I think the best part is being able to support someone in need.
We're all going to face hard times in our lives and a good support
system can help carry you through it. I love being that for someone
else, as I'd hope someone would be that for me.
Q. Did you attend college to get this career?
A. I'm actually still in college. I'm working on a double major in
psychology and criminal justice. Both of my majors have helped me to
better understand my job. My main position is to work the hotline and
so you face a lot of crisis calls and calls looking for information on
restraining orders and the court process. There was a lot of training
and classes that had to be done to prepare for the job.
Q. What are your biggest rewards and would you recommend this job to others?
A. It's rewarding to know that I've been there to support some people
when they're going through a rough time, and empower others when
they're just starting over again. I've also grown emotionally,
spiritually and mentally since I started my job.
I would definitely recommend working with domestic violence and sexual
assault survivors. It doesn't even have to be with an organization.
These days more and more people are facing physical and sexual abuse.
The odds are that we all know someone who has been abused. Be there for
them by supporting them, teaching them and learning from them.
