Venus Divas From Our Hearts, Body and Soul...
Samantha
Look at my baby isn't she beautiful? Just for a moment, look into her eyes.
Though she didn't come out of my womb, something about her very soul and every being connects deeply with mines.
Tears come to my eyes right now as I freestyle this poetry that flows
from my mind to the tips of my fingers with each stroke of the keys
here at work... At times I asked the Lord, will I ever have a daughter
of my own, and to keep it real ladies, the question itself did hurt.
But when I look into my babies' eyes, I no longer see that I am just
her step mother but I see a connection, a purpose within our love. I
see her father's shade of brown in her eyes, her mother's skin color
and father's hair texture. I see her grand mother's lips and her aunt's
smile and I become excited, so excited in my own heart to see what MY
child, OUR child would look like and if he/she would have any of my
features/traits.
Then when I look at my babygirl, who is now 15, I smile because I can see somethings in her that are so much like me.
The way she speaks, tries to learn spanish and jokes around, the way we
play and pose for pics, the way she always puts on chapstick..and
sometimes liquid eyeliner just like mines...sneaking it on before we go
to church real quick...it cracks me up inside ,cause that was me at her
age.
Then I start to think and realize even more that I have been blessed
and I thank God she is so sweet and no one like her I could ever
find... I see my baby and though I didn't give birth to her, I see her
through a mother's eyes and she too is mine!
