Your Name:
Jennifer Barreto-Leyva
City you are sharing:
Caracas
Please share with us a bit about yourself...
I'm the older of two daughters, lawyer, plus size model (the first and
only one in my country) writer for several magazines such as Gordos,
Just as beautiful and DC Glamour Plus. On this moment of my life
I'm single, no kids and not dating but hoping to find my prince
charming someday.
What are your favorite things about your city?
I like how extremely different can be this city in just five
minutes. You can find the most glamorous place to drink a coffee
but there's always around the corner a small and humble place to make a
stop and buy some homemade cookies. Caracas is a very
cosmopolitan city, crazy and loud by nature, but if you want to escape
from all of that you just need to turn around and take a look to the
Avila Mountain (The biggest one in the country) and that's enough to
feel peaceful again.
Caracas is a very versatile city, no matter what your preference is,
there's always a place for you to have fun and share with your friends
or family.
If you were showing someone your city, where would you take them?
To Shop?
Definitely there's two places in town that everybody should visit, the
first one is the shopping mall "San Ignacio" and the second one is the
"Tolón Fashion mall" is the most cool and chic one. The best stores,
the most recognized brands and designers have a spot there. They
still need the plus size touch, but is something that sooner or later
will happens ;-)
To Dine?
The restaurant "Cité". Is just fan-tas-tic. They serve
nothing but Mediterranean food, everything is ultra luxurious, the
candle light atmosphere on one side with the entire view of Caracas on
the other side makes it the perfect place to the perfect dinner.
Sightseeing?
"Avila Mágica", is a cable car system which takes you to the top of the
Avila Mountain and let you see the entire city to your left and part of
limit state to your right hand. Is beautiful anytime you ride it,
but some people say is just breathtaking at night.
And where would you recommend they stay?
If you are with a low budget or just in the mode to explore from head
to toe the city the best hotel the best option is the Intercontinental
Hotel. They offer good service, good prices and nice rooms.
But if you want to make your visit fabulous and glamorous all the way,
I have to recommend no other but the Four Seasons, the best one in town.
Anything else you would like to share about your amazing city? Your favorite hot spots bars, clubs, shopping places, etc?
My favorite place to chill with my friends is the bar "White".
The atmosphere is just one of a kind. Everything is decorated on
white, modern furniture, ultra glam mood. I love go there on
Fridays and have the gossiping time with my friends with a good glass
of wine. If I want to dance I rather go to "Sei Bar", they have
often ladies nights, the owner is a friend of mine and always give me a
VIP attention. What diva doesn't like it?
On Sundays I like to visit the bakery Saint Honoré, they serve such a
delicious breakfast, the service is great and you can go wearing
stilettos or pajamas, is just up to you. They have the newspaper
and the latest magazine in the stand that makes it perfect for me.
If I'm short of budget there's a fantastic place to shop, it's called
"Mercado del Cementerio". Is a colorful place, with funny and
interesting people, but you can find anything you want on ridiculous
prices.
